Cylinder roller bearings are available in numerous versions. This type of bearing is extremely suitable for the transmission of extremely high radial and partially axial forces. Depending on the version, cylinder roller bearings can be used as loose bearings (models N, NU, RN & RNU), as fixed bearings (models NUP, NJ+HJ) or for so-called "floating bearings" (e.g. models NJ and NU+HJ).
The most frequently occurring cylinder roller bearing type is the single-row cylinder roller bearing, while multi-row cylinder roller bearings are also used for some applications.

Distinguishing features:

• the bearing is fitted with cylinder rollers as rolling elements (please do not confuse with tapered rollers, spherical rollers or needles)
• the bearing must withstand enormous radial forces (and possibly axial forces as well)
• cylinder roller bearings are available in a wide range of versions; as a loose bearing with removable inner and outer ring (models N, NU, RN & RNU), as a fixed bearing with borders/angle rings (models NUP, NJ+HJ) - this means that precise specification is almost impossible
• there are "normal" (with cage) and full-complement cylinder roller bearings (without cage)
• the safest thing to do is to check whether the bearing is really using cylinder rollers these have the same thickness over the entire length
